Body work help?

Ok Ive finally desided to stop ignoring it and face facts, my car it pretty badly damaged for body dings and rust

I would like to keep welding down as I have a VERY poorly made MIG welder (have you ever heard of a mig where the feed wire is always live? Even when the trigger isnt pulled?) I mainly need to fix Hood, front fenders, drivers side rear quarter panel and passers side rocker? panel. Along with around the windshield frame

Lots of work huh? If I did all the work myself what would I be looking at? $2K-$3k?

Oh Im painting it myself too

Yep... the cheapo flux core MIG's are that way. Your welds would look better w/ a shielding gas welder.

After all my body work (doing it all myself), I wouldn't do it again. It was a great learning experience, but it's SO time consuming, and SO expensive to repair rust / body damage. I guarantee you will be in to it more than $2k-$3k for a total resto (done right). You can cut out the crappy spots & weld in patch panels, but you will spend A LOT of time getting it straight, especially if you're not a pro body man. Just hittin ya w/ reality.

Oh... and the damage is ALWAYS deeper than just the surface.

Erk... so what would be cheaper? Spending $7K-$8k at the body shop? Or doing it by myself? I guess I could do all the easy stuff AKA taking it all apart and doing the entire front end myself then let the pros do the main body. I have the tools to remove rust and remove it very well (Cutting and or Sand blasting) I better get a nicer mig first as I dont like flux core anyways.
Hmm... lots of work...

Doing body work yourself is always cheaper because you're not paying $70-$100 per hour for someone else to do it. But it's going to take you a lot longer as well...

What is your end goal with this car? 600hp track car? Show car? Daily driver?
