big phat 7 inch TACH...

Ok well i have my friend adam lucas hear in town that has bought a " big tach " and he was having problems hooking it up.. So i had to show him about the wires in the back of the tach for 4 ,6 , 8 cyl... so i choose 6 cyl .. for him then the instructions say to hook it up to your distributor ? so i would have to splice into the harness conneting into the bottom of the turbo dissy am i right ? i know NISMOPICK would know and answer this question.. but what color wires to what ?

Are you hooking it up to a 280zx? If so I belive you can hook it up to the ( - ) negative of the coil...what is it...Green, Red, Black, and White wires on the new tach? Either way, double check, I could be a little off on the connection.

^ correct. The misc. wires are for illumination. If it's anything like an Autometer tach then one of the wires wont get used if it's going in the Z.

You'll have power and ground for the tach. That allows the thing to even turn on and work. The signal wire goes to - on the coil. Then the white wire I think is for the backlight.

A 280ZX already has a 6" tach, I dont' see the need for another one. If you want to intimidate other drivers then paint a rising sun on your hood.
