Cool '86 Seats in an '82

I checked out a 1986 300zx yesterday for kicks, what I found was some really cool seats, It was a 2 seater 300zx and the seats were high back seats...I thought they were very comfortable and the big dial on the side of them for the bolsters was kick ***, they squeeze you very nicely. Have any of you put these seats in your 280's? If so was it easy or a pain in the neck...either way I want to put them in my 280zx...I don't mind putting ZX stuff of another body style in my ZX...keep it Nissan!!! I think the rest of the inside of the car was kinda blah!

I'm wondering the same thing. I have 2 sets of seats and they are both crap. The 86 seats are nice. I can get 300zx seats in good shape.

I've got '79 zx seats in my '82, and they are highbacks. I got them because I didn't like the lowback grandpa seats he came with stock. Anyway the highbacks are quite comfortable.

I just took my '80 highbacks out and put in a set of '83 lowbacks...
My drivers seat was screwed and I found a good set of two that I couldn't resist.

I almost put a set of '86 seats in it but didn't want to mess with the brackets.

So you would have to fab some brackets then?

Yeah, they were not a direct bolt in swap and they were a little too wide for the car. I have seen it done, but it's a tight squeeze that to me wasn't worth the effort.

Just for clarification when you say tight squeeze are you refering to the lower seat and the side bolsters fitting between the door and the center console?
