S130 Fender Flares

I have searched every where and have yet to find a ZX with flares. I am eventually going to get some and I really need some ideas, has anybody ever seen a pic of the ones Victoria British sells? Thanks in advance for the help. Any input would be apreciated,
Rob

I too would like to know because I'd like to get some rims with a serious offset eventually.

I've never seen them installed but I'm not a big fan of those type of flares. I prefer something that widens more of the fender rather than just a fat lip around the wheel. It looks good on some cars but the ZX just isnt' curvy enough to make those work. It's sleek but it lacks the curves of the original Z which makes those flares work on the S30 cars. Buy hey, that's just my opinion and if you need something wider then those are one of only two choices you have to choose from. You could also check out those showcar body parts people http://www.showcars-bodyparts.com/catalogue.html Just scroll down to Datsun and click 280ZX. They make body parts for the ZX like widebody kits and and other stuff. But like the flares you mentioned, I've never actually seen their stuff installed on a car. They do have lots of pics of their stuff off of cars though

Thanks for responding, I had seen that website before and the widebody kit looks decent but they don't have any pics of it installed. I have read in your posts that you were making body parts for the ZX, Have you thought of some fender flares.
This is kind of what I am looking for:

Thanks,
Rob

I could easily make the fenders. But I'll probably be having someone else carve them out for me to make sure they all come out matched up right. I'll give it a try my first but if I can't get it right I'll probably hire an artist to do the sculpting. THe actual composites part of it wouldn't be too difficult though.

actually it looks like they just combined the wheel well part of z33 fenders with the 280zx fenders, not nearly as hard as sculpting them from scratch

That brings up an interesting point - are the Z33 fenders metal? If they are, it wouldn't be hard at all to modify straight S130 fenders with the Z33 arches. Then it's as simple as 'glassing a mold out of what's already on the car. Should be real squeaky clean.

Just a thought.

I'm with JfairladyZ, just adding S30 type flares does not suit. IMHO that silver blue car in the pic above looks not so good, specially at the back.

What might work would involve extending the existing edge of the fenders out by inserting an extra strip of metal right round. In other words, keep the existing shape but extend it out more. Perhaps fiberglass extenders could be made.

ICICE's friend did exactly that! He extended the existing fenders out and got some really nice wide wheels.

See that doesn't look bad (the bottom pics), I like those flairs. Nice hood too But the Big pic above (with the hood open) the front looks alright but the rear just doesn't go with the car at all.

Ahh, okay. He had the same wheels and wing as his brother, so I automatically assumed it was the same car. My bad. Still hot, nonetheless.

What wheels are those? I could drink soup out of those.

Nice, seems like the top one's from crazy ol' Japan. But I think its a little too much. The ZG flares have a nice, clean old skool look that I really like. So was I right in saying no ones ever put S30 ZG flares on a S130? And where can I find and buy them? Thanks!

Wow... yeah ok those are real ugly and this is coming from some one who prefers the Japanese Zs. Well you sure those were ZGs? Cuase they looked like they were custom fabricated. Oh well, making sure that doesnt happen, so where can I buy ZG flares anyway? just curious...if those are really S30 ZGs then maybe I wont do it...maybe just roll my fender out a bit. Oh and how are their cars so much lower?!?! They probably have coilovers and such over there while we're stuck with Tokico's 1 inch drop!

those arent zg flares but i dont think that ZG flares will look right on our cars... the ZG flares were made for thr S30 body. the s30 is more curvy and had sofrer corners then the S130s. the S130 is a little more angular and i dont think ZG flares would look right on the S130's
