Z-Car Conversions
Hi – Looking to upgrade my Z Car, 72 240z – I want to fit a new/contemporary low-maintenance powerplant and tranny – perhaps a highly-strung 4-cyl, to race. Anyone know what fits? Powerplant from a Spec V Sentra? Maybe even an Integra or Prelude? Ideas? Know where I can see/find/talk about some conversions? Thanks,

Re: Z-Car Conversions
best for new and contempary would be supra or skyline motor... remember its a RWD car so it needs a RWD engine.. a SR20det motor will fit fine, and would work good. i;ve heard of someone putting that motor into there Z... up to you wat you want to do.. cheapest if your in america is a good ol v8...

Re: Z-Car Conversions
A V8 would be real heavy though, don't you think? I'd like to have the car as flickable as possible (think Road Atlanta!!)... a rear-drive engine, hrm... Nissan's 300ZX powerplant ('90 onwards) would be great, naturally aspirated with extras putting out maybe 250hp at the crank, and even that's probably another hundred pounds (or more) heavier than my inline six. --- In short, I'm looking for the cheapest/easiest way to about 250hp, in a four or six cylinder.... ideas? An aluminum V8 may do it.... how difficult of a conversion is that? Thanks for the info!!

Re: Z-Car Conversions
Go to www.hybridz.org and a whole new world will open up to you. I have a '77 that I'm putting a Chevy LS-1 V-8 in. It is lighter than the L28 six and its CG sits farther back and lower.
