What color?
What color?
Ok I've made the decision to get my 240Z painted. I like the current grey OK, but the car has some scratches, a lil bit of surface rust, and some damage to the hood, So instead of just getting the car painted in some areas, it would make more sense just to get the complete job done.
The colors I've narrowed it down to are:
Pale yellow: this is the same color as Z-hags new ride and is the original color of my car- I can see indications of it in the interior and under the hood. I was leaning towards this but have had friends try to dissuade me from painting it this color....altho I think its pretty cool...
Red: Not really the fire engine red but more the orangish-red that you see on alot of the older Zs. Of course the down side is that every other sports car out there is red. But it does look cool.
Dark blue: I saw one on Ebay this color and it looked awesome.....plus you don't see too many of them around this color.
Any thoughts out there or opinions would be appreciated

meh... its to pale for me.... i say the blue. mike... where the hell do you live in IL now? springfield? cause idk im so confused i thought you lived more closer to me for somwhere and then you mentioned springfield not to long ago and i was like... wtf?
Looks like yellow is winning! Blue is in second.....no one likes red? Just too common I guess.
Snow, I live downstate in Springfield. Sometimes I wished I lived in Chicago area so I could go to more Cubs/ Bears games. Probably more expensive up there though..........

Well my Z was the classic red you speak of (68' ford mustang red/orange) at one point in time and i dunno, it just was (a) too common and (b) cops tend to **** with you, or maybe it was just me, a lot more. As soon as i lost the red i lost about 50% percent of the attention that red brought.
old red after the initial resto-

well then mike.. its time to move. theres plenty of affordable places to live up hear... plainfield and romeoville right out my quiet towns back door are very affordable. if my cousin can afford a house in plainfield anyone can
Chicago is a nice town to visit Snow, but if I move somewhere, its gotta be somewhere South, especially after this damned winter that never ends. I wanna move back to North Carolina someday.....

i think the sour lemon skittles color is best for these little cuties---bigger cars can tolerate the italian darker color yellow, but our little nippon cars like the bag of skittles colors--nice and brite and tasty......

Sorry to the "Yeller" lovers here, but I never liked the original Z yellow. My brother had a black 240 when I was a teenager, and it looked great. I bought my first Z, a 260, in the mid-80's and it was a beautiful medium blue. Very nice color, like the Pacific Ocean. I painted my patchwork '70 240 a silver/gray that looked pretty good, but ultimately my current Z is the best color I have ever seen, a dark British Racing Green. Awesome color, IMHO.
the racing green would be sweet. you cant get oxidizing in clear coat paint jobs, so dont worry about that. if you get a bright color, orange, yellow red, etc. you get attention, from everyone. cops included. go something more low key and classy and dont stand out, and life will be good. mine is 2001 mustang silver, and it stands out, but only at car shows, cops never see me. there are crap loads of silver/gray cars around, so you blend in. plus silver is very forgiving. cant see dirt and the big scratch my car has all the way down the side.
