Water pumps - Aussie sources
I'm just in the process of replacing worn components on my '82. I'm getting some coolant leakage from the seepage hole on the water pump so I'm thinking the pump seals have likely gone.
Can anyone suggest a good supplier to get a replace WP? I currently have a best price of $65.95AU from www.marlows.com.au
If any Aussies can suggest a good supplier I would be very appreciative. I can't see the point in paying nissan a small fortune for a part like this.

Just an update - they are $67.95 from any Marlows store (at least in victoria). Repco ask $102.05 for a suitable pump. Since the Marlows one is a GMB with a lifetime warranty, I think I'll go with that.

Well here in Texas I bought my water pump for $69 at Checkers Autoparts and it is also a GMB with lifetime warranty. I installed it 5 years ago. so far no problems.
Another thing when you add coolant don't use water from the faucet or drinking water instead use distilled water. that keeps the radiator rust and mineral free. good luck.

Thanks for the info - if GMB are reliable pumps then I'll go with one of them. Did it come with a gasket or did you need to get that seperately?
re water... I usually use normal water with a coolant additive to prevent freezing and mineral deposits, thanks for the suggestion though.

I use a place called East Coast Automotive you can find em' in the yellow pages if your in Melbourne. I got it for around $60 which to me is a fair price. It came with a gasket but a [censored] one at that. Buy a thicker one with it for about $4 save alot of headaches. Also Be carefull when tightening the water pump bolts as they snapped when I did mine had to drill it out painfull job left my car off the road for a couple of weeks. Use some gasket gue minimal amounts and cross tighten it when putting it on. IE: Do one side tight then the opposite side all the way around like when doing up a wheel.

they are very reliable and it did come with a gasket. As for the rust were I live it does not get to a freezing point, so there are some people that just run with pure water. So if you just add distilled water and coolant you'll be fine. Also the gallon of distilled water cost for about .50 cents. so it is a real cheap investment. and you don't have to buy any type of additive since the coolant will be doing that job. and you will be 100% mineral free.So good luck.
