valve cover question
i have a blue valve cover that i got off of ebay real cheap that i replaced the one in my car with (just for looks) but i was wondering, its a 77 280z so it has fuel injection... on the top of the inside of the valve cover, there is a seperate peice of metal that seperates the main area of the cover from a smaller area where a tube from the airflow meter-to-throttle boot connect. in my older cover this area was sealed along the edges and over the screws with a hard goop-sealent. but in the newer cover, its not because i had taken it apart to clean up the inside of the cover. now when i accelerate from a stop, my car is jerky sometimes and acts like its getting no gas. is this because that upper metal peice isnt sealed? or a different problem all together. and does the sealent make a difference? if anyone knows about valve covers or fuel injected Z's help me out... THANKS!!!

Re: valve cover question
Let me see if I got this straight, you are installing a non fuel injected valve cover on a fuel injected car right? If that is true then there should be no problem that needs to be fixed on the inside of the valve cover. You will need to make sure you have plugged any plumbing that is now not being used.

Re: valve cover question
Sounds like your describing the area for the PVC or what acts like it on a Z. This hole on the top of the valve cover just takes pressure and unspent gases from the top of the the valve train and circulates it back into the intake. The metal peice inside is just so you dont suck the oil off of the valve train at High rpms. So this is probably not your problem. But the easy way to check is to put your old valve cover back and see if the problem goes away. If not You probably knocked something loose like a vacum line or such while doing the swap.
