top speed of my 78 280z
Re: top speed of my 78 280z
Safe top speed? Depends on your aerodynamics. You may experience front end lift at over 120mph. The rear end of the Z is also very poorly designed, and will create turbulence at high speeds behind hte hatch. If you already have a NON FLEXIBLE airdam and a functional spoiler in the rear, you have better chances of not flipping your car

With a stock engine and a 4 or 5-speed, your top speed IS 120mph. (maybe 125 on a really smooth road)
Same all the way up through 1983. 125 or so... I'm not sure if the 300ZX brought on a faster top speed. Probably a little. The turbo models though, had more power and higher gearing so I'm sure their top speed is higher. I think the 280ZX turbo is 140?? right?
So the 6-speed 350Z is about 180? :-D

Re: top speed of my 78 280z
I went to confirm my earlier post. I got my 78 upto 130@5000rpm. On the flat ground this time. This one has airdam and spoiler : ) Not stock either. Well, it's posible to hit 130, the aero kit really work too. So the top speed would be around there 5000rpm in 5th gear.
