Thermo Fans & Alternators????
Hey fellas, I have a thermo fan that has been setup on my 260z. It's been nothing but trouble since I've had the car it has run down the battery on the car several times. I didn't get it fitted to the car the last owner did andthe wiring is somewhat less desirable than what I'd imagine a pro installation would be. It's directly linked to the battery and has ajustable tempreture setting but I think it's killing my alternator because last nite the thing almost died on me when I had the headlights on and the fan running.
I've been told to go back to the clutch fan which is a good idea but if in future I get a big stereo system it will cause the same problem I'm sure. Is there anything I can do with the exisitng alternator or do I need to buy a bigger one? I already have another alternator that died on me a year back and I believe it was a cause of this fan.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated as I rely on my car for work and Uni.

2 words...
DUAL ALTERNATORS!!! hehe j/k... im sure its been done though.
how many cranking amps does your current battery have? maybe a more powerful one that will help support the alternator is in order for mods more then stock. I agree that you should be able to run all your accessories at idle, disconnect the battery, and the engine still run... but a more powerful battery certainly will help!!!
maybe an Optima battery? or a Die Hard RangeHandler? I've tested the RangeHandler to have more then 1000 CA's when they are rated for 900! if you are in a northern climate they are even more powerful (Sears offers different versions for different climates).
