My dad gave me the key to one of his z cars he had in early 90's, and it works in my car ignition and doors. How freaking cool is that?!?!?! Is that a skeleton key?

old nissan locks wear out, and you can open them with just about any nissan key from that style.

ya, this is old news. An Altima and Z32 key works in a 280zx or S30 unless the locks are new from Nissan. That's how most are stolen...

if the ignition is worn that much you could start your car with a flathead screwdriver or a knife!

actually, most any Nissan key works from the 80s and 90s. 720, Hardbody, 240SX, Sentra, Alty, ect... good news, huh?
that's why I always say get a basic alarm and a hidden kill switch.

That is not a skeleton key, all equipment made by CAT uses the same two keys.

All the equipment made by CAT has one ignition key and one electrical lockout key. At least for the last few decades. All the way from the tiny skid-steers to the 300 ton 797 haul trucks. I work for Caterpillar.
I thought skeleton keys were for houses?
I didn't know there was such a thing for cars.

ford and chevy made a masterkey that would work with most model vehicles for a long time. i don't know if they still do or not though.

Bought stolen Z

I bought a 260 from this couple a couple of months ago, and I believe it was stolen because I drove it home after having to start it with a flat head. The keys they gave me with the car did not work for the locks, but they fit great. I was wondering what I could do to have a key made for my doors and trunk? I bought a new ignition and installed it, so far it works great as well. I read the mention of a Altima key working on early Z's. My brother has an Altima, I'll try that tomorrow morning, if it works, I'll make another key.
Thanks for the information.

Ya I have the car under my name now, and the pink slip right next to me. $20 per lock is not bad, at least then I can open it like a normal car. Will also install kill switch, just in case.
Thanks for the help
