primering
firstly, it is very true that the "small" compressor won't be sufficient when attempting to paint the whole car at once.
2ndly, i havn't heard anybody mention etching primer. you need to have the whole thing down to bare matal or filler and using etching primer is the only way to get everything to stick to that.
and that sounds pretty stupid if all those specific primers just metioned are self etching.... i just wanted to clarify anyway.

Note to those using rattle cans. It may look good for a while. But, when it comes to putting real paint onto a rattle can base, it will not end up with good results. May look good for a while, but the two part paints used in guns do not bond well with a rattle can base.
This comes from bad experiences in my life of cheapness.

I shot my under coats with a typical old style cup gun, but shot my top coats with an HVLP. You couldn't beat the HVLP for cleanliness, but I prefer the old style gun for performance and finish quality. This was the first time I've ever shot with the HVLP, so it could have been me. PPG is the way to go, but man it's expensive!!! I used the Omni system for my under coats and color coats, but used the PPG clear. The end result was very nice. We will see how durable it is.
