Poor white boy from Tennessee...
I am on a VERY tight budget w/ school and only working part-time. I want to turn up the boost in my Turbo 280ZX and I would like to know what parts are absolutely necessary to do this. And how beneficial would the 3.1L conversion be on a turbo ZX? What larger turbos will fit on the Z? Could I pull one off of a diesel in a salvage yard?

yo2001 is right about the IC. But save yourself some money on the turbo part as of yet.......Instead, get yourself and adjustible pop off valve. (stock will not allow higher boost levels) Do a search back and look for modifily your wastegate rod. This can be done yourself or purchase a boost controller. Which ever works for your buget at this time. You'll be please with just a few simple modification. It doesn't have to cost alot to run more boost safely. The most important thing is to run an efficient Intercooler with a blow off valve.

I am using an Isuzu NPR intercooler and it fits and looks great. It was kinda expensive but well worth the cost just for how good it looks. Check out the pics in my profile.
