Paint and Z racing History

I am having a hard time thinking of a paint scheme for the Z. One of those cars that can make almost any color look good...

So, I am curious what color schemes were used by race teams back in the production of the early Z's. I don't know my Z history well enough to know anything except for BRE. Anyone have any good examples of a race themed paint?

Well... you could always... ya know... use the internet to find out.

I went to www.google.com and typed in "240z racecar" and "240z race car" and about 30k webpage results pop up. You can always use google images if you don't feel like sifting through web sites. Ain't the intrawebs neat?!

The thing about me and search engines. I never seem to use the same nomenclature as the people making the web pages.
So I tried google, and topics like, Z Racing history, Nissan Racing History, etc. I was not getting good picture results at all. But, with 240Z and 260Z Race Car, I get better pictures. Can't tell you why I didn't think of using race car. haha
Thanks.

I am finding interesting stuff.

Is there any Japanese specific stripe patterns?
I thought that the double stripe through the center was really an American car thing. Am I wrong?

Thanks for that link. Got some ideas now.. Brewing..

Scared to take all the paint off the car though. I think I am going to find a lot of work.

I dunno about the whole Rising Sun...

I am an American. I only fly our flag. I may not agree to a lot of what we do, but I still love this place.
