New member looking for some opinions.
Hey guys. I'm new here. I've loved the 280z ever since I saw one. I currently own a 97 Honda Prelude but I really want to get a 77 280z. Are they pretty good cars and would they be a good investment if I wanted to make it a project car? I'm still pretty new to the mechanics of cars but I'm majoring in mechanical engineering and really want a car to work on. I haven't really done anything to my Prelude but take the bumper off to fix it. Someone hit my car in a parking lot and drove off. But I'm wondering if the s30 would be a good buy and if it would be worth getting in to. I'm only 19 but I seriously have a desire for cars.
Thanks guys,
Cole.

I'm hoping to find a nice clean 280 with minimal rust. I just want to clean it up, put a nice set of wheels on, clean up the exterior, maybe get a new bumper and new skirts/rear lip, and if money allows, a new paint job. Are these cars expensive to clean up or is it pretty average? I also want to get a wide body kit or fender flares. Are those pricey?

I agree S30s are great cars. And very easy to work on. If you want to teach yourself auto mechanics, this would be a good car to start.
Parts are pretty reasonable. Just got to the MSA website and check out the prices.
Also, if you don't like attention when you are driving, this might not be the car for you. These cars timeless good looks attract all kinds of positive attention. They make you feel like a rock star!
