Re: L28 Engine
My buddy Curtis had the same problem with his 77', we replaced plugs, wires, cap ,and even the rotor. NOTHING. So we got a new air flow sensor, nada we pulled it apart aha, a little tweaking of the spring and hold on where did all that power come from. There was substancial increase in power.

Along those same lines, the throttle body sensor can do this as well. Bad or old sensors/connections send false information to the ECU. So it never figures out that you're trying to rev/accelerate and thus doesn't adjust the injector behavior appropriately. The tests for the MAF and the throttle body sensor are both really easy with a half-decent multimeter and are outlined in the factory service manual. Sadly, my manuals aren't available to me right now, so I can't give more details. Happy bug-hunting!
