L20 Electronic Dizzy
I was wondering if an electronic dizzy from a JDM L20 (six pot) motor would work on a L24?
I can get one easily so was wondering if this would be a similar upgrade to the 280zx electronic dizzy.
Thanks

Re: L20 Electronic Dizzy
what is a L20 pot motor? I know the early Z's came with L20 engines in japan.
Alan the 240Z distributors came with single point and maybe double point. The 280ZX distributors used a electric ignition, and usually have a blackbox on the side of it. Below is a link and he has a picture of 280ZX on that page.

Re: L20 Electronic Dizzy
To my knowledge the L20 was found in early Skylines ie: R31 or R30 not sure. There was a L20 Turbo I think In some of them. You could give it a try might work I don't see why it wouldn't if it's a inline six and L series engine. Just like putting L28 Dizzy on a L26 or L24 still works. I know I slapped my 240z dizzy on my L28 when the old one gave up and it worked fine.

Re: L20 Electronic Dizzy
The petrol 'L' block was available as a 4 cylinder as the L14, L16, L18 & L20B (not including the LZ series)
In 6-cylinder they ware available as the L20A, L24, L26 & L28.
All of the 6-cylinder versions were available in various models of the S30 series (240Z 260Z 280Z & FairladyZ variants).
The L20A was generally a domestic Japanese motor only as the laws there tax motor vehicles based on capacity, so smaller is cheaper.
The L20A was also available in the C110, C210, & R30 Skylines (mainly the GT models) in fuel-injected & turbocharged versions. The C210 GT2000 Turbo was the first mass produced turbo car in Japan - with a startling 86kW!
The R31 Skyline was the fisrt car to use the RB series of sixes. The FJ16 was going to be used as Nissans powerplant for their upcoming entry to F1, but things changed & it was modified to become the FJ20 & FJ24. The former powering the DR30 'RS' series of Skylines & the latter powering the 240RS model of the S11 Silvia.
