Fixing Rusty Floorpans
What would be the easiest way to fix some rusty floorpans? Mine are good, except for a few spots here and there that need to be cut out and replaced. Someone was telling me that you can not weld new metal to floorpans, or something like that, so how would I fill these holes? I have a wire feed welder (Ingersoll/Rand, I believe), and my father used to weld for a living, so the welding isn't an issue.

it shouldn't be too hard to get the tar off. I should be able to scrape it off, or weld the piece in from the inside of the car. Worst case scenario would be that I could just heat it up with the torch that we have and melt the tar off somewhat.Would regular sheet metal work?

STOP THE PRESSES!!!! First the tar mat is on the inside of the car. Second, that stuff is hard to remove! Heating it up you will just end up with a big bubbley mess of tar goo. I'll post a link to the best solution to removing that stuff later.
