I have just installed a 2.5" exhaust on my 76 280z... one of the MSA ones. The PO had a 2.5" exhaust on as well, but it was shot...

When I tore the old one off, I realized that the entire exhaust was held up only by the muffler hanger.

Reading the FSM, there was another hanger that held the 2" stock exhaust near the transmission cross member. All this hardware is gone, and I am having a hard time figuring out where to position an exhaust hanger amidships.

I thought about getting a longer bolt for the tranny cross member... that way I could bolt the cross member, put a nut on it and then have enough thread sticking out to attach the hanger and another nut to secure it.

Does anyone have advice in this area or a picture of what their setup looks like?

Originally the mid hanger was attached to those "wtf is this for" ears on the tail housing of the trans.

Thanks for that answer from myself as well. I was watching this one as I expect (fingers crossed) to be reinstalling my exhaust system in a couple of months.
