Engine Rebuilt

Engine Rebuilt
Have a L28E/P79 that burns 1 quart ever 100miles. I'm able to take the engine out strip it down and deliver it any where in the LA area for rebuilt. Can go as far as taking the head and block apart. Questions: What does a machine shop want heads with everything intack or bare? What about the block fly wheel and oil pan off? Also what would be a good upgrade? Engine is in a 70 Z with SUs(sm), headers,83 trany, r200 3.90. It is a daily driver but I'm a 35 year old lead foot so a mild/medium cam would be good. Finally does anyone know of a good machine shop in the Long Beach, Ca area.

Re: Engine Rebuilt
when i did my rebuild, i just took the head off and took the block with the old pistons in for the machine shop, and they saw what they needed to do, and they did it...
take the sump off, flywheel, oil pumps, dizzy etc, i just had the block intact with only pistons and crank, (i actaully had the conrods disconnected also.), and the head intact, and gave that to him.. best thing to do is to call up the place you want to take it to, and asked them what they want you to bring in...
