something on the 280ZX window will get loose over time and the window will wobble in and out. One 280ZX I had would always close with the window bent to the outside of the T-tops instead of holding in close and going under the metal edge of the t-tops. Yours was probably just loose enough that when the door was pushed closed, the window base leaned out and the top edge of the window caught exactly on the metal edge of the t-top.

 

well t tops were off and window was down it was just loose and it prolly hit against the door so it shatered
