choke cable?
choke cable?
Just wondering what some people have done to add choke cables to a 280z that was converted to SU's from FI??
I am fabbing up a system using bicycle brake cables that are insulated and so far so good. I just need to figure out how to make a single handle for both choke cables. Any Ideas?

We used to do the same sort of thing when I worked at a bike shop, probably 8 years ago now. The mechanics at the local airport sometimes used bike parts, particularly cables and the attendant fittings, for throttles and small linkages. For multiple/split cable applications you want to use an older-style cantilever or u-brake cable bridge to go from two cables to one, which will work with your choke lever. The service department of a decent bike shop should know what you're looking for. Here's the bridge cable and hanger in action:

If they're not sure what you mean, ask to look in their "QBP catalog" (Quality Bicycle Products, the giant wholesaler of small parts to all bicycle retailers), and you can point to the photo of what you want in the brakes/cables section.
good luck,
Dave

funny thing there is that is illegal. lol. every part and i mean EVERY part has to be FAA certified. its why so many things for airplanes cost a boat load of money when the same part in a car application is 1/3 the price like starters. i beleive fittings are ok though.
cheers,
Dave

nm i went to the local jy today and found a 260 with the choke cables and tossed it in. also got a turbo valve cover and a few minor things. I wanted to get the turbo but the shaft was bad and i did not feel like rebuilding it. and there was a wailtail on a 280z but it was tore up bad.
no your uncle, the so called uncle thats good with cars. only hooks up one carb to the choke. dude, im starting to think your uncle is a raging alcoholic thats a habitual liar as a side effect and your dumb enough to believe him
lol this turned out to be a funny post after all. and no i could not afford to buy the whole thing the charge an insane amount out here in vegas. I did get a 79zx engine and a 5 speed with new clutch and a few other goodies for $100 from a club member.
That is a whole new ball game though
