choke lever mounting

Does anyone have a pic (or illustration) of how the choke lever assembly mounts to the trans. hump? I received my car with the assembly just hanging by the cables in the passenger foot well and I have no idea how its supposed to mount or what parts I may/may not be missing. My manual has no pics (or even a description of how its installed) so I'm at a loss. Any help is appreciated

The choke lever actually mounts in the centre console...directly to the plastic.

REALLY not ideal, this part usually cracks to buggery after a cable gets a little stiff.

I am setting up an electric solonoid on binky (my 75 model) to get rid of this problem and just have a switch on the console. I will post pics when I get it set up.

That'd be cool if you could post pics after you get it set up. I was thinking of trying to use an alternative choke as the stock setup doesnt seem to be working. The choke actuator doesnt move the throttle linkage and so doesnt open the throttle at all.The choke lever itself moves though, just not the throttle. The carbs are from a 240Z though, not the 260. 3 screw type. It didnt work with everything installed on the car, and now I've got the carbs off for some cleaning and gasket replacement and I still cant get the choke to operate properly. I've tried bending the choke levers (on the carbs) but that still only barely gets it to make contact with the throttle linkage. I'm just going to try to braze some cable pulls to the throttle linkages at each carb and fab up a bracket so that the choke cable will activate the throttle linkage directly.

On a side note: that info on the choke lever in the cabin helps. The fact that the center console is out of the car would explain why the choke lever wasn't hooked up in the first place

When I got my Zed the centre console was broken up all along there. I replaced the console and didnt put the choke back in...at the moment I have to hand choke it til I work out exactly how to hook the solenoid up. Yes its lucky being tall so I can reach across the block and choke the back carb while I get the car started reaching through the window (RHD)

One other thing is that I have dual HS-6 SU's on mine which might be slightly different, although it did have the standard choke cable setup previously.

well you hit it spot on Coolie. I started cleaning up some of the interior parts that I have laying around and when I got to the center console I flipped it over and sure enough there are, what appear to be, some destroyed mounting spots where the plastic looks like it was just ripped away right where the choke lever is supposed to be located. I might just try some epoxy to see if that will work. If not then I'll fab up a mount so the choke lever will just bolt to the tranny tunnel and still stick up through the slot in the center console.

On a brighter note my inoperable choke turned out to be the nozzles seized in the carb housings. I pulled those out and cleaned em up along with the housing and the chokes are now operable (mechanically anyways). Now its time to order a couple remann'd housings from ZTherapy due to some badly worn throttle shafts Gonna try out a new needle profile while I'm at it
