Cant get in drivers door from outside
My driver side door wont open from the outside. I had the panel off and saw that the little plastic bushing that the latch from the handle goes into looks loose. i take it out, give it a little squeeze and put it back in. Then I put down the latch and try the handle again... the plastic tube that screws over the latch rod goes right through it, doesnt even attempt to push the lever to open the door. For the time being i put a small bolt on the threads and put everything back into place. It works for about 5 pulls then im back to square one. I dont get it, the bolt should have done it. That bushing would make any difference since the bolt is bigger than the hole. Im outta ideas.

If youi have a junkyard close by go there and barrow the parts you need to rebuild the door mechinism. If you want to be fair you could leave your broken parts in place of the ones you barrowed. I fyou do feel inclined to keep the parts they should nor cost very much . This would also fix you door permantantly.
When I had my 81 ZX I used the parts of my 79 parts car to fix the same problem. Crawling thru the hatch gets old real quick.
Good luck

A new rod with a new adjuster is very inexpensive, shouldn't be a problem.
"Borrowing" from a wrecking yard is thief and not worth irritating the operators, especially if you might need their services again.
As far as using a nut as an adjuster,it works fine but you actually need two and tighten the one against the other to prevent them backing off.

Alarm + power lock solinoid = keyless entry
then you can just shave the whole handle and lock from the outside and not worry about it again!
Hook up the power lock solinoid to the vertical lever that used to go to the outside door handle. Don't forget a door popper spring.
