You'll be glad that this problem is an easy fix. The tach in your datsun is wired different than the autometer tach. If you look at the input wire, it doesn't go into the tach, but just makes a loop. By putting in the autometer tach, you didnt' complete the loop, therefore not letting the coil get power. Jumper the two wires that go to the coil in the connector that plugged into your old tach, and the car will run.
