alternator?

alternator?

ok so my Z has been dying an night so i have to jump it and when the rpms drop down to idle when i come to a stop the lights, dashlights, and watnot all dim and the radio will go off then turn back on(not every time) i dont know if its the battery or alternator or both... or worse but i hope not >.< any help would be great sry if this has already been posted but im in a hurry and dont have time to search -_-

I see you got one of my biatches sisters! Mine is # S30- 004884! The early alternators will get weak and not work under load at idle. They are three phase so you can get a later one and regulator. Tom

Yeah, if I were you, I'd take my car to the nearest AutoZone and have both the battery and alternator tested.

Yeah... take it to Autozone and have it tested for free... check the belt, if it is old it could slip...

3rd the autozone thing, they will do it for free and smile while at it. and if they dont smile. honk the horn when they are reaching under the hood. then at least you'll smile

also, gimme one of your corrolla's. lol. i want an old school drift car lol.

since i didn't want to start a new thread and anger the thread gods, i might as well say my alternator problem.

It used to be when i stepped on the brakes with the headlights on, that there would be a shrill squeak from my hood. Now it's come to the point that even when I turn on my Z it squeaks. It's not a stock alternator, it's a Bosch, how do I know if it's bad, and what can I do to fix that infernal squeak?!?

Have you checked the belt tension? Have you taken your car to the local parts store to have them test the alternator?

the shriek is probably the belts. just change them its easy and cheap. and make sure they are tensioned right.
