76 bumper removal help
I can't get at the bolts on the driver side rear bumper mount bracket thing. I was able to remove the passenger side one, but there is no room to access the bolts on the driver side. I dropped the gas tank and the muffler,, any help anyone?

Re: 76 bumper removal help
I had some trouble with the same thing. We dropped the tank and moved the muff a bit. We went out and bought a shorty. It's a 14mm right. Just go get yourself a short boxend wrench, and you can really only turn it 1/4- 1/2 turn each time, but it worked.
What turns? There all straight to my Z

You only have to undo the filler hose where it connects to the tank. It's just one of those fabulous Nissan clamps. Once loose the filler hose will just slide off.
1) Disconnect the battery
2) Remove the drain plug and drain the tank
3) Disconnect the fuel level sender - there should be a connector
4) Disconnect the two fuel hoses
5) Place a jack under the tank. Use a block of wood to spread the support across the tank.
6) Disconnect the two nuts that hold the straps to the body.
7) Lower the tank slightly
8) Now is the time where you can disconnect the fuel filler hose at the tank as well as the vent hoses
9) You should now be able to finish lowering the tank.
You will find this and more information in section FE of the Factory Service Manual - that's available at xenons30.com/reference

If you're dropping the tank, it would be a GREAT time to replace the vent hoses. Some are NLA, but fabricating replacements is documented at Classic Zcar Club and HybridZ. You just have to search.
