Not very difficult. It can be a one person job. What can make it hard is if the mounting bolts are frozen by rust. I have dropped tanks on two Z cars. On one the bolts were sacrificed and on the other it worked out fine. Try hard not to cut the bolts as one is an odd shape that will be difficult to replace.

You only have to undo the filler hose where it connects to the tank. It's just one of those fabulous Nissan clamps. Once loose the filler hose will just slide off.

1) Disconnect the battery
2) Remove the drain plug and drain the tank
3) Disconnect the fuel level sender - there should be a connector
4) Disconnect the two fuel hoses
5) Place a jack under the tank. Use a block of wood to spread the support across the tank.
6) Disconnect the two nuts that hold the straps to the body.
7) Lower the tank slightly
8) Now is the time where you can disconnect the fuel filler hose at the tank as well as the vent hoses
9) You should now be able to finish lowering the tank.

You will find this and more information in section FE of the Factory Service Manual - that's available at xenons30.com/reference

If you're dropping the tank, it would be a GREAT time to replace the vent hoses. Some are NLA, but fabricating replacements is documented at Classic Zcar Club and HybridZ. You just have to search.
