All the good looking sportscar looks alike. Think, Dino, 911, 2000GT, Z, jag so on and so on. Z was designed after Porshe you know. So Z is kind of knock off to begin with. I think Nissan simplified the complicated curves off exotic european car in 60's to created alot cleaner simple sportscar.

No after 1st gen 911 carrera. I'm sure there was an influence from the old Italian too. (who didn't back in 60's) But first design came in early 60's by Mr. K. It was a competition between Toyota and Nissan and it was for the German designer (I forgot his name) that worked for Nissan that time. Toyota then developed 2000GT from that design, and off course Nissan designed Z

 

oh. i knew somewhere in there a ferrari was about. i didnt know the 911 had anything to do with it. also i always thought the 2000gt and the z were almost related. i learn something new everyday.

When I was 11yrs old in Red River N.M. I use to play race car driver with my friend in 2 2000gt's, They were old and junked out. If only I knew what they were and was a little older at the time I could have scored. I am almost positive that that is what they were. Maybe that is why I love Z cars so much. My first race car.

Actually, Albert Goertz was designing the Toyota 2000GT for Datsun in the mid 60's. But they canned the project and thus Goertz transfered over to Toyota and the 240z was basically a revision of Goertz design. So I guess you could say that the 2000GT is the older brother of the 240z in sorts.

Maserati 3000GT looks *very similar to a 260Z 2+2 from the side. I saw one a couple of weeks ago and theres a definate resenbelance. The Maserati looked sweet

 

I thought the 240Z was modeled after the Jaguar?! Thought Mr. K wanted something similar to that. Am i wrong?
