I have a 71 240. I use it as a daily driver. i went to work today the car was fine. after work i went to wash the car and put some gas. i always put regular unleaded 87. but today i put 89 octane AND a bottle of that carburetor cleaner by stp. man i barley made it home.. the car was popping, hestatating it was awful the car died on me a few times but i managed to drive it home. geez i wonder what the problem is and what do i have to do to correct it?

Water in your gas tank? I did that too. I never thought it could have gotten in because the cap was on, but sure enough... after washing it there was water inside the carb bowls.

run it! Drive it hard on the freeway for a long time. it'll either clear up or you'll be stranded far from home. But really, it should be fine i think. Unless there is a totally unrelated problem.
