Exhaust smell
ya know, I'm not so sure what I'm smelling anymore... I just know it's really strong when the windows are down. and now that the dumb tail pipe is turned, I smell that more when I'm sitting at a stop light. It is so frustrating, I just hope it's these hoses now. we'll see, if it's not I think I will sell it.
The canister filtersfumes from the gas tank. If the gas hoses are leaking it doesn't take much to stink up the whole car. So all the fuel hoses and vacuum hoses should be replaced. The exhaust fumes are the hardest to get rid of so hatch seals are likely bad to. lifegrddude is right about the muffler. If it's a clamp-on have it welded.

my number 3 or 4 injector usually has a small pool of fuel under it after i drive it a while, i pulled the plug though it doesent run to lean.
i am afraid its going to go up in flames though but i cant find any decent sets of injectors

lol, yeah get dirty
idk, just the manifold area and the first half (by the tranny) cause any part of it after that wont cause to bad of a smell. but i have a feeling it was what ever is leaking gas.

That and make sure all your seals are in good shape. We did this on my friend's 71 240 and now we don't smell like we doused ourselves in gasoline every time we ride in his Z.
Zlis, the above post has a lot of merit. Extending the exhaust beyond the bumper a couple of inches stright back will help greatly. Another thing to try. Take a strip of paper about 1'' wide and 4 or 5inches long. Put it across the gasket for the rear hatch, close the hatch and see if you can slide the paper. Do this especially all along the bottom and sides of the hatch. If there is a gap in the seal the paper will slip easily. There is a leak. Also look to the bottom of the rear fenders where the vent hoses exit on the passenger side, also where the antenna drain exits the fender. Seal around these openings. Check the rubber plugs in the rear hatch. There are hinge seals on the hatch that will allow moisture and fumes into the cabin, they aren't as much a cause as the hatch seal and tail light gaskets are. Which you have replaced. There are vent lines from the gas tank that enter the cabin in the rear behind the plastic trim. Be sure that they are sealed around the hoses. Silicone sealer works well . Good luck. I have extended the tail pipe, I have done the paper test, I have done the gaskets around the lights.... I have not lifted my carpet yet. I'm going to do that tonight, and am going to take more pictures of my exhaust. I will check the vent lines from the gas tank... *sigh*
