Battery problem and other problems

ok so ive had my 260 for about 5 hours and im at a puzzle. The Battery seems pretty new but it was dead So I charged the battery and got it running then started to drive it. Got down the street and stalled the car out then I tried to start it and nothing happened the battery was completely dead so had to go get my other car and jump it. Now Could this be the battery being bad or is something draining the battery while the car is running? No idea need help.

Also What is the best way to tune the the carbs so the wont diesel out the rpms are pretty high so was wondering what the combo on tuning was

What is the battery voltage when disconnected? Is it holding a charge? (apparently not...)

As for tuning the carbs... you use a carb synchrometer: http://www.thezstore.com/page/TZS/PROD/TE/60-9976 (there's a cheaper one too)
