AFM / ECU testing

AFM / ECU testing
Ok, I've given up on everything else, tracked down a sharp tech who can do a great deal of testing for me. Just need a little information from the group.
We're are going to run a full diagnostic on the electronics, what we need to know is how to go about it, i.e. what and how needs to be done, and what results we are looking for.
Figure we're going to start with the electronic contol unit and go from there (AFM, etc.) Any special tools or equipment needed? (figured an ohm meter and.....?) Also what are we looking for regarding a positive response?
Regarding the AFM I did see the post under the "still having problems" thread, but regretably I don't have a shop manual so I'm not sure what order the seven pins are in to determine what pins are what.
If it helps and saves everyone some time, if I can get to somewhere on the 'net that has this info, I can just download and print.
