75 280z wont start

So I just got this Z... Its my first Z and I cant get it to start....

The guy before me never could get it to start either so I got it off his hands dirt cheap

First the ECU was missing so I replaced that with a one from the same year, I replaced the plugs and the coil... I have no spark coming from the distributer but when I put a plug in the coil wire I get spark when I turn on the key... but not when I turn it over, so i figured that its not sparking over and over again because it has constant power, and I think i can back this up because it shocked the crap out of me....So im thinking maybe the distrbuter is bad... is there anyother ways to check before I go into the hassle of buying a new one, the cap is brand new also...but im not 100% positive... on the distributer theres the 3 holes in which have the metal that spins around and etc... and only 2 of the 3 have metal coming out of them?> is that maybe a sign saying its worn out i personally dont know, Im 17 and this is the first engine Ive really had to tinker with, Im a jeep guy who know drivelines like the back of my hand but has never had to learn about motors... please help me out...

The coil is okay, your distributor is bad. If the shaft isn't worn out and the vacuum advance still works, you can buy a Pertronic kit on ebay. Ask Jeremy (FAST240Z) he recently did it.
