280z starting problem
hey guys, i've had this 77 280z for a little while now and had it running for a few weeks. i let it sit for a couple weeks in the garage and decided to go ahead and change the oil pump, radiator, full tune up incl. fuel filter and injectors.
while doing the oil pump i made sure that i got #1 cylinder on tdc and lined everything up. At tdc, the distributor rotor was at the #1 wire position.
now, whenever i try starting it, it just cranks over and sounds like its backfiring through the intake. so i messed with the timing hoping it'd help, but only made it worse and then backfired through the exhaust.
it also seems like its flooding out, cause the plugs all smell like gas, yet they all have spark.
ANY IDEAS?

Did you align it before you took it apart? Recheck it by removing #1 plug and make sure you are on the compression stroke by putting your thumb over the hole. Crank it over until you feel it "pfft". Take it from there checking the position of the timing mark and the dizzy position. Sounds like it is 180 off.
