1971 240 z stalling at idle
1971 240 z stalling at idle
Hi There,
I have a 240z manual that stalls from time to time in Neutral at Idle. It usually cuts out at stop signs, but has stalled as am exiting the hwy too at good speed. The idle is about at 700-800 typically. The car was tuned up a year ago and sounds feels drives pretty much as it has (owned for 10 years) but has recently developed this issue. I get around it by keeping the choke on just a bit and pushing up the idle.
Is an idle screw adjustment ok to just do?
Could it possibly be the fuel pump or filter?
Possible non-related problem is that there is a hesitation and sometimes an audible pop from somewhere under the hood and the RPMs jump when I start from a complete stop, usually more when the car warms up which takes a good 4-5 minutes before i drive it before it's feeling strong enough that I stop worrying it will stall.
Any help appreciated!
Adrian.
