I am not a Z driver, not yet. A friend of mine was before he wrecked his 2004 350z. I bought the wreck off him for a couple grand. The engine and most of the running gear seems undamaged. The whole rear end of the car is smoked, however, and I've no interest in attempting to repair the vehicle. Something I am interested in doing is picking up a late 70's 280z and attempting a resurrection using all the running gear I can possibly scavenge off the wreck; from engine and tranny to wheels and brakes.

While price is not much of an obstacle for me, experience is. My experience with vehicles extends about as far as changing a few spark plugs, swapping a radiator, replacing a fuel tank and changing a head gasket. I don't want to bite off more then I can chew, more then I can chew being a project I can't put back on the road after more then about 200 grueling hours of what I'm sure will be learning experience after learning experience. So I guess the question is, can it be done? Should it be done?

The idea that someone can log on here from thousands of miles away and access the collective knowledge of an entire community of gear heads just blows me away. Thank you to everyone involved with these forums.

Yes it can be done. Anything is possible with enough time, experience, and $$$. The S30 engine bay is plenty big, roomy, and basic. You will just need to get custom mounts, and measure twice!
