The roof won't go back because it is stretched. There are body shops that have the tools to shrink the metal in those areas making it look new. You can probably have the whole body straight for $1-2k You can fix the rear suspension yourself. Don't put yourself down, the only thing you lack is the experience which is about to change if you don't give up. Just do a little at a time. Remember this day when you post pics of your bad girl all finished!

I'll throw in my vote to repair it. I just had the roof on mine replaced (and both front fenders, and both headlight cases, and the hood, and the airdam, and the grill, and both turn signals, and the bumper ends, and...). One of the previous owners had gone for an aftermarket sunroof, so heat/shrink and dolly were not an option. We found a donor roof in a parts yard near here, and it welded in straighter than the original body work ever was. As a bonus, I got a new headliner with the replacement roof, too (even the right color). It's been 20 months in the body shop, and looks to be well worth the wait (paint is supposed to go on today or tomorrow). If you spend the time and/or money to do it right, you'll be really happy with it.
good luck,
Dave

I agree, i have been working on mine for 6 years and counting. She runs sweet. now i am doing the body work and it is very time consuming and frustrating. i have a lot of injuries so i can only spend 1/2 an hour at a time on her. There is a lot to do. i ahve to replace the Drives door and fron quarter panal and the passenger head light cone. There is also some minor damaget to the inside rear by the latch. I know i probably wont be driving her anywhere for a couple years so i can get the body done right. the nice thing is that once the body is done right you should not have to mess with it for at least 10 years.

So if the frame rails are good and the powertrian is strong, then you need to decide if it is worth it to you.

I know my answer.
