Can i make this 260z look like a 240z?..Please help!

Hey guys, i'm seriously looking at buying at 260z here in NZ, for my new project, and was wondering what the key body differences are between 240, and 260z....id like to make mine a 240z lookalike (i love the shape of the 240z)...

Is this possible?...heres the link to the 260z im looking at,....

http://www.trademe.co.nz/Trade-Me-Mo...-184901305.htm

From my observations, it seems everything in the body is identical to the Z, apart from no Indicators on the rear quarter panels, and different tailights?....is there more?, and also can i do a full 240z conversion?, and how much would i be looking at paying to do so (want to know if its worth just buying a 240z insead).....over here 240z go for nearly twice the price, and this particular 260 is a mint example,....fully restored!

The 240Z & 260Z are virtually the same car... diff logos, diff motor, and sometimes the bumpers have tweaks. I dunno what else you could want for closeness....

If you slap on 240Z logos, and try to sell it as a 240Z, you might run into some issues (you still have the 260Z VIN).

Like Nismo said, they're basically the same car. Emblems, taillights, 260 has a slightly larger engine, and the late 260s have bigger bumpers. The interiors are slightly different too... the 260s is better with better materials (no quilted vinyl). I don't think its such a great idea to "convert" a 260 to a 240. Just enjoy what you have.

Cheers mate,

Are the bumpers interchangeable?....id like my front to look the same as this car, love this kit!

http://www.viczcar.com/Featured-Ride...rbo-L28ET.html

Im not trying to make my car look like a 240z, more so what i would like my car to look like....id definitely not be putting a 240z logo on it....

Any other key differences on the body side of things..heres what ive gather so far:

* different tailights
* indicators on the 240z are on the rear quarter, on the 260z, they are on the back
*front indicators are larger on the 240z.

....everything else seems the same, body length etc all identical as far as i can see, and bumpers look to be interchangeable between models?

yes the bumpers can fit with a little persuasion, the Australian 260z would IMO be alot better choice, as 240's are fairly rare and most of the time they are either rust buckets, or restored.

cloning a 240 from a 260

Not adviseable...too many little things you'd run into that would make it a PITA. And if you sold the car to someone who knows a fair bit about them, they would see the changeover--it would just be a matter of time.
Just wait for a 240 to come up F/S, or buy the 260 & leave it alone. I don't get it when people try to change their cars into something else. If that's not the car you want, then get the car you want, or just settle & enjoy it...sheesh. Get a thin-bumpered 260 & you'll have the next best thing to a 240. Of all the Z cars I'd like to have it would be a Euro-spec 260Z (but I would still keep my '73).
