bumper replating
bumper replating
For the reference of anyone doing such a thing in the future, current cost of straightening and replating the 280Z bumpers:
$70 shipping to California from Colorado.
straightening some small dents, blasting out the heavily corroded backside, stripping, and show-quality triple or quad new chrome plating, $650
shipping back to me: $50
turnaround time: 5 weeks roundtrip my door to my door.

Update: Walker's had to take a couple of small dings out of my bumpers, too, so it was $700 including shipping back to me. I got them back last night and bolted the rear bumper on. I'll try to get some pictures of the finish. They did some beautiful work.
Note: chase the bumper threaded studs with a metric die, it'll make installation alot easier. The threads on the '78s are 10 x 1.25
