75z bumpers

Hi ,
Im trying to find some bumper parts hopfully cheap, I have all the steel parts for the front and back but during the last 30 years the rubber parts have vanished. Im not real sure but i think there is a piece on each end and a skirt accross the top, I havent realy been able to find a good clear pic of a 75, so im kind of guessing . I want to keep the body stock , but at this point I just cant deal with how wierd the bumpers look with out those end caps and mite have to go with a air dam or somthing

no help, anywhere

i also have a 75 Z and my bumpers are almost nude. i still have the big offset center pieces, but the skirts are totally gone, and most aftermarkets suppliers dont have 'em for this year. please, return to the forum and let us know if you ever find any in quantity; the entire community needs them.

Yep

One of the hardest things to find for the 75/76 cars.

I'd go with the MSA airdam or the 240 fiberglass bumpers. IMHO, the 280's looks soooo much better once something else is installed. Some say the 'glass bumpers are kinda crappy, but I liked them.

went to jail once for my bumpers

about six months after i got my car, i took both bumpers off. they just looked too silly for me. about two years later, i was pulled over by a cop who pulled a u-turn to get behind me simply because i had no bumpers on the car. at the time there was a warrant for failure to appear on a traffic summons i THOUGHT i had dealt with the year before, and i went to jail. 24 hours, for a bumper. so be careful; it is pretty important to have something there, if you have bad luck with the law like I.

There's a difference between not having any bumpers, and something that looks like a bumper. I'm sure the cop will never know what's up. Sorry to hear about your jail time. That kind of stuff seems to happen all to frequently.

rubber bumper cover

Hi!
I just bought the rubber bumper covers you are talking about. I have a 76 and myne were all cracked and I couldn't stand it anymore! I looked at junk yards, and some people at the z car show were going to give me theirs, but they were cracked too. So.... I had to spend some money, but my car looks so much better now! There is a guy in San Jose, CA. Rod's Discound Datsun Parts. His number is 800-257-7773, or he has a web site www.rodsdatsun.com. I haven't been to the web site yet, he's kinda cool to talk to on the phone. Anyway.... I know you wanted to find them cheap but they aren't. I spent over 300 bucks for them, but they did come straight from Japan, and they are bran new. Call me crazy I know!! but I want to keep the car as stock as possible, and I do plan on keeping it a long time!
