Bumpers On 78
I have a 78 2+2 and i was wondering if ni can put the smaller 240 Z bumpers on it. also can i use the same bumper brackets or do i have to get the 240 brackets. if so what will i need and where can i go to get the bumpers and brackets. somewhere with good prices would be good. cause im really tired of looking at those big crash bumpers on my car. thanks

Re: Bumpers On 78
Short answer: No, you can't put those bumpers on there.
Real answer: If you custom fabricate your own brackets to match up to the '78 body mount points and the 240 bumper mount points to "translate" between the two years, you could force it to work. Note the usual warning about the 240z bumpers affording about as much protection as a sheet of aluminum foil so don't drive in rush hour traffic, blah blah blah.
I don't know of any source for ready made brackets for this application, but perhaps some one else here might?
Unless you just like the chrome of bumpers, though, you have an alternate choice of a no-bumper clean fiberglass kit from Motorsport. It affords about as much protection as a 240 bumper, but looks really nice. Not cheap, as I remember, but it's got all the pieces to fill in the gaps and such left when you remove the bumpers. Trims and valences, etc. Don't know if others have such kits or not.
good luck,
Dave

Re: Bumpers On 78
People have been able to use the 240 style bumpers on the 280's, but
its not just a bolt on as I understand it. It seems that the MSA body kits
are cheaper and look pretty good compared to the stock " HUGE" bumpers.
I know you can use the early 260 bumpers with some mods on the late
260 or 280. I need to check with StrictlyZ.com and see if they have any
plans for offering body kits for the 280.

Re: Bumpers On 78
i was thinking about getting the fiberglass aero kit from msa but im affraid it wont look good on a 2+2. i seen them on a normal 2 seater z and it looks good. but since mine is a little longer im affraid it wont look all that great.
if you have pictures of a 2+2 with the msa fiberglas aero kit from all angles that would help out for my decision of what to do
