I'm afraid your mileage is not going to get much better for that beast. I guess all you could do is routine maintenance: change the filters, check the air in the tires, etc. , might help a little bit.

I sorta figured that to be honest, but Doesn't hurt to ask huh?
I keep seeing all these things that add extra MPG (Inake, exhaust TBI spacer ECT) but I cant actually see them adding MPG

dyno proven for losses up to 12WHP and decreased fuel economy, because any smart person would realize you want your air to flow as smoothly as possible!

accelerate gently. Leave a good amount of following room and go easy on the brakes so hopefully traffic will start moving again before you come to a complete stop.
Take any extra weight out of the truck. (tools and luggage) Run as small of diameter wheels as possible. Usually factory allows are your lightest and cheapest options. Run close to max air pressure in your tires. Remove the tailgate.
Lower it
Is this a 4x4 truck?

No the truck is 2WD. And hoov is right, no tailgate = major loss of aerodynamics
Truck is bone stock, not even a simple leveling kit or even a new exhaust. the truck is mint sept for a dent in the bed and the 100K miles on the engine

'94 have those strange barrel air filters in the housing on the passenger side right?
if so K&N is quite and improvment over the regular one, plus when you sell the truck it makes a decent filter to use on your z in the area where the stock filter housing used to be.

Lockheed actually performed drag tests on pickups with the tailgate both up and down, and found that drag was actually LOWER with the tailgate CLOSED! This ran counter to their intuition (and yours). The reason is that a closed tailgate sets up a large "bubble" of stagnant air that slowly circulates around the bed of the truck (we aero types call this a "separated bubble"). When air approaches the truck, it "sees" the bubble as part of the truck. So to the air, the truck looks like it has a nice, flat covering over the bed, and the air doesn't "slam" into the vertical tailgate. If the tailgate is open, or replaced by one of those "air gate" nets, however, that nice, separate bubble in the truck bed does not form (it "bursts"). Then the air approaching the truck "sees" a truck with a flat bed on the back of a tall cab. This is a very nonaerodynamic shape with a very LARGE drag. So, believe it or not, it's best for gas mileage to keep the tailgate CLOSED
Ok, I am now educated.

Wish my truck got 12MPG... I couldn't imagine anything would get you better milage that won't cost you a bit of money. You could do a tonneau cover if you can find one cheap, that may net you a couple MPG. Keep the A/C off, go the speed limit and all that, easy on the throttle(as said earlier) and all that other boring driving stuff...

ok....find a vortec motor and swap it. lol...i got a 95 k1500 and i get 12-15 depends on the day lol. but just keep a tune up on it every 3k-5k and make sure ur tires are well inflated to the correct spec. as for the k&n its not much better unless its out of the engine bay. maybe than but with your throttle body its best to keep as much out of it as possible. try cleaning your injectors. theres only 2 so. as for header, exhaust, intake and a spacer it will increase horse power with the right combo. call up the major companies such as edlebrock, trickflow, magnaflow, and also try getting an aftermarket ignition system. we did my cuz's 92' c1500 stepside and he gets 19-22. about 25 on highway. so it just depends on the combos u use. since yours is 2 wheel drive its not too bad to find axle's with different gears that mnay help. i dont know what ratio's to use cause i have a 4wheel drive but i can get a hold of my cuz and see what he recommends.
