GOOD SHOP

Dakota's Custom Classics
6012 Topaz St. Unit #5, 89120
639-1200 - Steve

Major Cross Streets = Patrick just East of Eastern.

I was refered to this place by a guy who had a good experience with the work they did on his Ford F-150 Lightning. I took my dad's 1969 Camaro there for a new power steering box, e-brake adjustment, exhaust swap, and to troubleshoot why it wasn't cranking over and starting. Since it wasn't running, I trailered it down there and they helped me get it unloaded and what impressed me off the bat was they went and got towels to put between their hands and the car when they pushed it into the shop. I dropped it off on a Wednesday afternoon and by the time I drove home to pick up parts I forgot and drove back they had already diagnosed and fixed a problem with the starter, put it up on the lift, and had already taken the old exhaust off. The next day was spent welding all 6 pieces of the new exhaust together. I picked it up that Thursday at 4:00pm and the quality of work was awesome, they really took the time to go through the car even though I didn't ask them to. They wrote up a detailed reciept of what exactly they did and how many hours it took. They even had to buy a replacement part and only charged me what they paid for it and proved it by showing me their reciept. Great great guys and they said they work on any type of car and from any degree of extremes. From full race cars to street cars and from imports to hot rods. I will be back there for sure.

I can't believe I haven't posted this before, sorry Mark.

GOOD SERVICE

Z Mobile Detailing
Mark Zana
(702) 513-2999
www.zmobiledetailing.com

Mark is a fellow Z enthusiast that started a mobile detailing service that blows every other one out of the water. He is a super nice guy, and does a great job. He uses Meguair's products, which is very cool, and he takes care of your car like he takes care of his own. He comes to you, and does everything from a simple wash to a full wax & detail for great prices. Its comforting to know that you have a fellow car enthusiast taking care of your car rather than some guy who uses cheap products and doesn't take his time in order to maximise profit. I know that myself, Miss_350ZNV, SmittyZ33, Driven, Yogi, and others from this forum have all used him and have all had great experiences with him.

Does anybody have any suggestions for a good "paintless" dent removal specialist? I've got a few small door dings on the G that need to be attended to.

GOOD SERVICE

Pro-Tect Film
Mark
(210) 834-1249

These guys do great work and have a great product. Out of my family's collection of cars we have had a G35, Corvette, SL500, E320, and Miss_350ZNV's 350Z done there all with great results. Their clear bra covers the entire front bumper, part of the hood, part of the front fenders, headlights, side mirrors, part of the roof, gas cap, and the areas behind the wheels. They are really great to work with and stand by their work. If you get bubbles, wrinkles, or anything else, they will fix it for free until its perfect. They have also told me that they can do custom clear bras for aftermarket parts, but I haven't had them do that for me yet.

Yeah, I have a guy for that too, but I am trying to get his phone number again. His name is Derek and he usually posts on LVRacingScene.com under the username Rowdy. He did great work on my old IS300 as well as my girlfriend's old IS300. I sent him a PM just this morning asking for his number again so once I get it, I will add him to the list.

Yeah I have all the parts so far. Just didn't know how or where to get it done. The tech session may not be a bad idea, thank you. I may want a good tint shop to put my overlays on though.

The only thing I would get done at a shop is the tail light film because it is really easy to screw up. I would call around to tint places to see if they will install those for you. Total Eclipse on West Sahara does a good job on tint so I would see if they can do it, otherwise, any respectable tint place should be able to do it.

George's Alignment and Brake. They are low tech but the do very good work and will do custom racing alignments. Just remember that there are limits to how close lowered cars with stock parts can be brought back into spec.

Yea... that's where I took my G when I installed the Tein S-Techs. Of course, they couldn't get the front to spec, but that was expected.

Yeah I already bought them and bluebat was who I got 'em from. It looks like there are parts of the tint that go beyond the light, may overlap underneath for security (I dunno). So this may require taillight removal, do you think Total Eclipse would do that ??

Clear Bra: Mark at Pro-Tect Film (210) 834-1249. It should be $800 out the door if you tell him that I sent you.

Paint: Robyn at Sunland Collision (702) 898-9600. Kelli's Stillen spoiler was $205 out the door for paint & install.

Took the car over to Spring Mountain Auto Body today. My boy Jim works there and he is getting me out the door painted and installed for around 1200 bucks. This is the same place that did ViViD's car, and have seen that they do quality work. They are also putting an INGS kit on a G35 down there right now to, but I dont know whos it is.

That's kinda high. Mine was $500 from Total Eclipse on West Sahara, across from Planet Hyundai. I got the whole front end and the mirrors done.

Also, I'd like to add to the "bad guys" list. Don't let Circuit City in Henderson touch your car, ever. I had them install a Sirius receiver in my Jeep about two years ago. I had to take the dash apart when I installed a new sub and noticed their wiring job was rather Mickey Mouse. They had stripped away some insulation from the radio's power wire, wrapped the Sirius power wire around it and wrapped electrical tape around the whole mess. The ground wire was just stripped back and wrapped around a bolt. They didn't use any wire connectors at all.

When I traded in the Jeep, I took the receiver out and brought it to them to install in the Z. I talked to the install manager about the crappy install in the Jeep. He looked up who did it in the computer and told me, "Sorry about that. That guy was fired. I'll do this install myself to make sure it's right". Now remember, this is the manager.

So yesterday, I take apart my interior to install my deck, amp and subs and what do I find behind the dash? The Sirius receiver (which has stopped working and been replaced twice under warranty. Nobody seems to know why) is pulling power from a SPEAKER WIRE! Maybe that's why the receiver keeps going out. Not only that, but the ground wire is installed just like it was in the Jeep, stripped back and wrapped around a bolt... no ring terminal. Oh, and I need a new Sirius antenna because when they installed it, they bent the wire to the point where it broke inside the insulation. Every now and then, I have to wiggle the wire at the bad spot to get the receiver to work.

CLIFFS NOTES: Circuit City sucks at the installs.

Well, the pro-tect film covers a-lot more and might be a higher quality film than what they gave you at Total Eclipse. For $800 you get the entire bumper, headlights, mirrors, half of the front fenders, half of the hood, part of the roof, and splash guards.

$800 is a discounted price. They do a lot of the high end dealership installs at like Porsche, Lambo, Ferrari in the Wynn, etc... so that might be why the normal price is even higher. They will do extra stuff too if you want. They told me one guy had them clear bra the entire car. Also they will custom make clear bras for aftermarket parts, but that might be more expensive than $800.
