ugh.. thats what i thought... its a good concept becuase farther the turbo from the engine the better it spools.. but in the long run... abolutly useless and stupid... IC piping much to long... to much pressure drop especially with IC... nad then running oil feed lines that long..... its just not worth it.. theres more... i just cant think right now..

I don't know if I'd call it useless. They have gotten good results on some cars. It's a viable option because of it's cost and ease of installation. Of course the performance won't match a conventional turbo but some would argue that a SC doesn't either.

Not useless... Here's my roommate's car:

Runs low 10's. He's getting the turbo rebuilt right now. Should break in to the 9's once he gets it back.

betcha it would fly if it were in the engine bay... its all about compensation.. thats where you get custom exhaust mani/header to push the turbo as far aw from teh motor as possible but in front of the motor at the same time so ou can get a very short IC routing... great spool and little pressure losss...

like so:

Pressure loss doesn't matter. Pressure in the intake manifold is all that matters. 18 psi is 18 psi. The turbo spools by 3,000 rpm and makes enough boost to blow the motor if he wants. He has a 3,500 rpm stall in it, so boosting any sooner wouldn't do anything. He couldn't run this turbo in the bay. He'd have to run a smaller turbo with different wheels.

Just waiting on my pulleys and HFC's, which should be here monday. Gonna try to do everything except the UTEC, clutch, flywheel, cams and retainers next weekend. Will try to do the clutch and flywheel the following weekend. Gotta email TS and see if they can raise my rev limit and remove the speed limiter while I'm getting the cams done (probably going to have Mike at Factor X do the cams for me).

Well, as usual, Mike's booked up for 4 months, so looks like it's all me. Anyone want to observe and/or help?
