N.A.S.A Track Days @ Buttonwillow 6/11-6/12

Who: NASA Pro Racing
What: High Performance Driving Education (Open Track Days)
Where: Buttonwillow Raceway
When: Saturday June 11th, and Sunday June 12th
How Much: $150/one day, $225/two days
$40 - One year NASA Membership
$50/night Hotel

They will be running Configuration #1 counter clockwise (picture attached). This is a good price for the 2 day track racing. I am considering going to this event since I LOVE Buttonwillow and havent raced it counter clockwise. If I can get another person to go with then we can split the hotel cost. I have never run with NASA before, but I have heard that they are one of the best around. I know this conflicts with the tech session, but for me, this takes priority.

I think that there are a few guys (including someone with a 350Z) that are going to go from the NV240SX club forums.

CCW is a ton of fun there is just 1 spot where you need to be really careful and thats sunrise. Almost everytime I go to BW CCW I've seen someone drop a wheel off at the exit of Sunrise, pull it back onto track right away, spin, and smack the pit wall. So just becareful if you do drop a wheel of right there.

CCW is a lot of fun. Good luck and I expect a full report when you get back

I am excited to go CCW. I will keep sunrise in mind. I am just excited for Star Mazda backwards! Thats going to be one nice decreasing radius. Also exiting the bus stop CCW has peaked my interest.

This was an awesome event. N.A.S.A. is the most organized track day that I have ever been to. It ran flawlessly and the race groups (wheel 2 wheel) were really fun to watch. My luck wasn't so good. I ran the first two session getting used to running the track in the opposite direction I was used to. On the first lap of the third session my power steering went out so I pulled off to the hot pits. I looked under the hood and saw a shredded belt so I headed back to my pit area. Upon closer inspection I realized that one tensioner pulley had completely fallen off and the other one was about to fall off. So I literally had every 350Z owner in a 10 mile radius (6 of them) help me push my Z back onto the trailer. So it was a really expensive weekend for two 20 min. sessions, but I still had a lot of fun and met some really cool 350Z owners (rickdogg, skrill, jritt, daveh). I will definately be back out at a N.A.S.A. event the next chance I get.

My radiator worked amazing. My car ran cooler in the 90 degree weather on the track then it did with the old radiator driving on the freeway. I will write a full report on my website pretty soon.

Did you not tighten the pulleys enough? I'd better check mine.

I don't even remember touching the bolts that hold the tensioner pullies on, but I had to of. Thats just too random to happen on its own to both. Do you know the torque specs for the tensioner pulley bolts by the way? I need to figure them out before I slap them back on.

Man sorry to hear that! Thats exactly why I can't participate in these events for a while. If my baby breaks, I'm f$%ked and then I'm walking to work. When do you think you'll have her back in tip-top shape? If you haven't already

She is running again, but short one belt, so when that gets in I she will be back on the road.
