May be getting new toy/transpo.

I need to get some alternate transpo so I can start working on my car. I was looking at a buddies '01 ZX-7 because he's selling it cheap and I've always liked the 7 (had 4 of them). However, I usually end up breaking bones on a sportbike (face, wrist twice, clavicle, etc...). I'm thinking maybe a Dualsport bike. My very first bike was an '89 Honda NX250 and I've since owned a '90 DR650S, '02 XR250R with a Baja Designs street-legal kit and most recently an '04 DR400SE (I've only busted one bone on a Dualsport... right foot). Anyone ride any of the newer Dualsports? I'm looking for opinions. There are 3 650's (Honda, Kawi and Suzuki) and they all weigh about 325 Lbs. dry. The Honda XR is the most dirt biased and the Kawi KLR the most street biased. I'm leaning towards the KLR just because it has a 6 gallon tank (DR has 3.5, Honda has 2.5). 'Course there's also the DR400SE which I liked when I had one. The 400 is actually about $500 more than the 650 though and it struggles on the highway. It is the best of all 4 off-road though.

$3400 w/ 15K miles. Needs chain and sprockets, but that's it.

Interesting. Is it carburated or injected.

Carbs, but I'm very familliar with them. I had my ZX-7's completely apart numerous times.

I also looked at a '00 ZX-9R with 10K miles tonight. He wants $5K, but said he'd take $4K if it doesn't sell soon. Also looked at an older DR350 with 3K miles for only $2K.

i'd avoid carbs... too much of a hassel (both in the atkins and on bikes)

Carbs don't really bother me. I've had at least 2 dozen bikes and all but one were carbed. Two even had flatslides and they're a bitch to tune.

I decided I'm probably getting a dualsport. If anyone's interested in that ZX-9, here's a link:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...m=140098315283

Auction ends a little after noon on Sunday (tomorrow). I looked at the bike in person and it's immaculate. Started right up with only 1/2 choke. Major service was just done. Only thing I think it needs is new grips. It still has the factory ones and they tend to be a little slippery. It's at $4K right now with no reserve.

Nice, but too much $$. I want to pay cash so I don't have any payments. $5K is my absolute max.

Besides, as cool as that 750 looks, that ZX-9 would stomp it.

Got the 9. I'll post pics after I clean it and change the oil.

Cleaned her up and took some pics...

Got a Muzzy stainless/carbon pipe on the way along with a K&N and a jet kit. Also ordered a fender eliminator so I can put matching signals on the rear (like the fronts).

Yep. The fender eliminator puts the plate right under the taillight, angled back.
