That was actually a drift event that they just had a few weeks ago at Qualcomm stadium. That was one of 3 accidents they had that day. Two other cars ended up straddling a median or two. Needless to say, Qualcomm officials has declined to host anymore drift events. The SCCA club down there is worried that the Qualcomm officials might let them come back either.

Poor course design and event management seems to be the culpruit. This has been a hot topic on Miata.net. Here are some other pics from the event that shows that safety was not the #1 priority. Can you image this stuff being allowed at a LVRSCCA autox?

...I'm suprized the people walking by when he hit the tree didn't run for cover. It was like they were expecting it.

im not gonna lie...that Z was kinda ugly, just cause of that decal it was ridic. to big to red, the wing was alright i guess just not my style. but that decal jeez.

That guy horsing around should be thrown out right then and their. And yeah, safety for spectators wasn't a priority whatsoever. What kind of management lets people onto an active track?!
