Come run the basterized version of Buttonwillow this Fri!

So for those that haven't heard yet they made a slight addition at Buttonwillow raceway and Speed Ventures will be running it this Fri. JP is taking the miata up and I'm going with him and will be driving a borrowed s2k with r-comps. I might be instructing but I'm not sure yet. We'll probably leave thurs, stay overnight, and drive home fri after playing at the track all day. I'm guessing attendence should be fairly light so you'll have plenty of time on track.

If yorr running at Pharump this weekend you can use this event as a tune-up.

Buttonwillow Raceway; October 14st 2005
Price: $170 ( + $30 instructor fee if not in school group)

Duration: 1 day 2.5+ hours of track time per group!**

Track: Buttonwillow Raceway (near Bakersfield)

Registration: Registration is open

Timing: Transponders are available for rental.

Event Info:

At 3 miles, Buttonwillow is the longest and most technical track in the Los Angeles area. With twenty-three turns, three elevation changes, the banked "Riverside" sweeper, and a perfect drift over "Lost Hill" (AKA "Magic Mountain"), Buttonwillow offers both a unique learning environment, and a challenge to advanced drivers.

Config for this event is #13A CW. This is the traditional #13 with a newly created turn off the end of "offramp". There is no track map for this config yet (it's that new), but a possibly-correct facimile can be found below. This track is suitable for street cars, though we suggest that the Riverside turn should be approached at conservative speeds of 70-80 mph in cars without race rollover protection. The remainder of the turns on this track are moderate-speed (35 - 70mph). Most Turns have wide runoff areas, clear of major obstacles.

There will be 3 run groups at this event with limited registration to keep traffic light. A sample schedule is here for your information, though schedules do change based upon attendance.
Here is the track map slightly modified to represent the new changes to off ramp...

Let me know if your going to join us,
Karim

Damn. I had no idea that they added that little bit off of Off-Ramp. Why did they do that? That seems like such a minor change to make it worth the cost. If I wasn't going to Huntington that day I would join you fellas. Have fun, and let me know how it is.

Going clockwise the turn is way better than off-ramp! A very challenging but fun slightly blind double apex corner.

Overall the event was a BLAST!!!! I'll type more on the day later
