Cal Speedway almost all to yourself tomorrow!
Cal Speedway almost all to yourself tomorrow!
Aaron Bitterman from Speed Ventures sent out an email saying this...
"CALIFORNIA SPEEDWAY ALL TO YOURSELF!?!
It has been brought to our attention, this time by our accountant rather
than the marketing department, that "nobody" has signed up for our event at
California Speedway tomorrow (Friday, May 27). When an accountant says
"nobody" John and I actually get scared since, as the sons of accountants,
we know that if there's one thing an accountant knows how to do it's count
(unlike marketing people who are prone to exageration, hyperbole, and wild
fantasies). Even though John loves to lose money and Aaron doesn't care
either way since it's generally not his money getting lost, we did check
signups and found that, in fact, 50 people have signed up (including 10
student first-timers). Nonetheless, after firing our accountant (not either
of our fathers in case you were wondering), we decided it would be a good
idea to let our loyal customers know that there is LOTS of room on the 2.8
mile Grand Am course in all run groups. So, if you ever wanted to have the
track "all to yourself" as they say, now's the time. You can sign up here:
http://www.speedventures.net/5-27-2005_event.asp. Garages are free (we are
guaranteed to have enough for everybody) and lunch and drinks are included
as always.
INSTRUCTORS NEEDED AT CS TOMORROW
While reading the above newsflash you may have noted in parenthetical
comment #3 that 10 newbies signed up (including a fellow with a 1200 hp
Supra
drag car). This means we're short on instructors and, if you are an
instructor, or have always wanted to be, you should contact me to negotiate
a special deal for tomorrow's event. I can best be reached by phone at
323-461-4795."
If it wasn't such short notice and I wasn't already taking this wednesday through friday off of work then I would be all over this opportunity.

If anyone has a shot to make it out to any SV events they should try to. I instruct for them on a semi-regular basis and they are honestly one of the best groups I have ever ran with. And Aarons email today was flipping hilarious!
Their other event at cal speedway coming up should also be a treat when it comes to seat time. I ran the infield CW in March and it was a fun. Great track for beginners since there are NO elevation changes. Consider it a really fast autocross.

Oh damn, you are right. S**T I may have gone to this if I had realized that it was the ROVAL. Oh well, it will probably be smarter to do the ROVAL when I have my roll bar and harnesses in lol.
