HID lights for my ZX...

Can anyone give me some information on how I could convert my headlights on my '79 to a HID setup...Or how to at least give the lights the look of HID? I know my headlights are sealed beam but maybe there's a kit out there or something? Thanks for any info.

Best to take up icice's suggestion. You can get an HID kit for the ZX, but it won't be street legal. The light pattern will be all wrong and you'll blind on coming traffic. You'd have to find a car company that makes HID headlight housings first, which at this moment doesn't exist since the market demand isn't big enough. But if you really want HID's go to www.suprastore.com and order a set, they're on sale for 399 by the way.

Ya, don't they make the true HID light kits that have an "H4" base to them? Basically you then can plug those into any car that uses H4 bulbs or has an H4 conversion?

Xenon charged H4 HID Look bulbs run $15-30 or so. (some are more expensive) The true HID setups have ballasts and run $400 on up, so you definatly know if you're getting the real thing or not.

I got some of those diamond look rear reflector H4 conversions off eBay. They look more like modern headlights and are DOT H4 conversions. I upgraded from some standard H4 conversion kit using my same bulbs and did notice the light is aimed much better. I have been running 80w/110w Xenon bulbs on my 280ZX for about 2 years now using the factory wiring. (just plug it right in) with no problems. Halogen bulbs of that wattage may draw more power.
Here is a picture, sorry for the low quality camera...
